Titans trample Dunseith 66-16

Towner-Granville-Upham (TGU) trampled Dunseith 66-16 in their first game of the new season on Aug. 23 in Dunseith. TGU dominated the first three quarters, although Dunseith earned eight points in a TD and successful PAT in the second quarter and rallied back in the fourth quarter for another 8 points.

Sophomore Kendal Green led the way in the first quarter with a 26-yard run to make a touchdown (TD), however the PAT failed. Freshman Hunter Schell received a pass from senior Lane Marshall and ran 3 yards to make a touchdown. The PAT was successful on a Green run.

Freshman Eli Luna took up the challenge and followed with a 6 yard run to make the third touchdown of the first quarter for TGU. Two points were added when Marshall passed the ball to Luke Bacon.

Marshall made the fourth TD for TGU after running 73 yards and then passing the ball to Blaine Ganje for the extra points.

Marshall started the second quarter with a touchdown on a 4-yard run but the PAT failed. Dunseith’s Duane Gunville answered back with a TD on an Alex Jeanotte pass. Using the Gunville run, Dunseith added two more points to the scoreboard.

TGU freshman, Hunter Schell took the ball in for a touchdown on a 40-yard pass from Green. Green threw a pass to Luna to add two points. Green then came back with a TD of his own in a 25-yard run. Green passed the ball to freshman Zach Haman for the PAT.

Senior Reid Pfau saw some action when he made a 1-yard run for the TD and completed a successful PAT run.

Green added the final touchdown of the game for TGU in a 40-yard run although the PAT failed.

TGU was ahead 66-8 at the start of the fourth quarter when Dunseith fought back with a Trey Poitra 10-yard run for the final touchdown of the game. The final two points for Dunseith were made on a Gunville run.

It was a good first game of the season for TGU who will play Surrey on Sat. Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. at Towner. They will then play the Tri-County Raiders on Friday, September 2 at 7 p.m. at Drake.
