Area players named to all-state teams
The high school football season is over, but not the accolades for a handful of area players.
Recently, all-state selections were announced for Class A and 9-man.
Rugby junior running back Eric Kuntz had quite an impressive season, rushing for 1,847 yards and 19 rushing touchdowns. For his efforts, Kuntz was named to the Class A all-state offensive second team. He was the Panthers’ lone selection this season.
North Prairie has four
North Prairie (Rolla-Rolette-Rock Lake-Wolford) had four players named to all-state Class A teams. Senior lineman Nic Pfeifer was named to the first team offense and junior lineman Carl Nelson was a first team defensive selection. Senior running back Michael Bonn was a second team offensive selection and senior linebacker Blake Nelson was a second team defensive selection. NP finished 9-2 and reached the Class A state semifinals.
T-G-U has three
Towner junior lineman Zach Thompson was one of the anchors on an improved Titan defense and he was rewarded for his play, getting selected to the 9-man all-state defensive first team.
Junior quarterback Tyler Thorson and senior running back Ian Keller were named to the all-state second team. Thorson had a breakout year, rushing for 23 touchdowns. Keller, who battled injuries in the middle of the season, was a key contributor to the Titans’ playoff run.
