T-G-U’s Thorson is coach of the year
Towner-Granville-Upham put on quite a playoff run this season, reaching the state 9-man semifinal round as the three seed from Region 4.
And recently Titan coach Scott Thorson was recognized for his leadership by being named 9-man coach of the year by the state coaches association.
“It’s definitely an honor to get this award, but it’s a credit to the team and for the coaching staff,’ Thorson said. “It’s a shared thing.”
Thorson was also named co-coach of the year in Region 4.
This year’s Titan team went 5-2 in the region and then won three straight road playoff games before falling to Parshall-White Shield, ending with an 8-3 record.
Thorson has compiled a 69-47 record in 12 seasons at T-G-U and has guided the team to the postseason seven times.
