North Prairie blanks LaMoure

By Staff | Oct 27, 2009

North Prairie’s defense forced five LaMoure-Litchville-Marion turnovers and the Cougars overwhelmed the Loboes, cruising to a 42-0 Class A first round football playoff victory in Rolla on Oct. 24.

NP’s defense had four interceptions and one fumble recovery, stifiling LaMoure’s offense all afternoon.

The Cougars’ first scoring drive came courtesy of one of those aforementioned turnovers. Jake Miller caught a four-yard TD pass from quarterback Jaden Pfeifer. That proved to be all the scoring NP would need as it registered its third shutout this season.

NP would scored twice in the opening quarter and three times in the second to put the game away.

Running back Michael Bonn would rush for two scores and fellow rushers Everett Lervik and Taylor Gottbreht would also find the end zone. Nathan Joraanstad hauled in a 25-yard touchdown pass from Pfeifer, who ended the game 10 for 13 for 113 yards.

The win improved the Cougars to 8-1 overall and advances them to a quarterfinal home match up with fellow Region 2 rival Cavalier on Oct. 31.
