Benson County picks up first football win

By Staff | Oct 2, 2009

Benson County would have liked to have earned the first win a bit sooner, but after four straight losses, win No. 1 was still sweet for the Wildcats. BC earned that win over Tri-County on Sept. 25 in Maddock. “Everybody was pretty excited afterward,’ Manley said. “We made a couple of fourth and goal stops on defense and then our offense exploded in the second half, scoring 34 points. I don’t know if we had scored that many points (in the first half) all season.”

The Wildcats will have another tough game on their hands when they travel to two-time defending region champion, St. John, this Friday, Oct. 9.

Keller to return to T-G-U lineup

Towner senior standout Ian Keller is expected to return to the Titan lineup this Friday, Oct. 9 against Tri-County, says T-G-U coach Scott Thorson.

Keller has missed the past two games, sidelined with a collarbone injury he sustained in the North Star game earlier this season.

The game with the Raiders will be T-G-U’s final regular season contest, and potentially its final home game of the season, depending on the outcome of its Oct. 2 game in Fessenden against Wells County.

A win over Wells County would have kept T-G-U’s chances of hosting at least one home playoff game alive. A loss and the Titans likely will be on the road for the first round of postseason play.

The Titans won’t be overlooking the Raiders who have proved they have an offense capable of putting up points.
