Rolette Co. falls to Surrey at Section 5 Tourney
Rolette County pitcher Zach Thompson was cruising along through the first three innings, but then Surrey broke out the big bats.
The third-seeded Blue Sox belted six home runs in two innings, including a grand slam by Matt Enget in the top of the fourth, giving Surrey the lead for good en route to the 14-3 victory. Aaron Gebur, Brady Schwan and Devin Larson also homered to chase Thompson from the game.
Ian Keller came in to relieve Thompson but surrendered a home run to the first batter he faced, Cameron Aberle. Later in the inning, Gebur hit his second home run of the game.
Surrey scored five runs in the top of the fourth inning; six in the fifth and three in the sixth.
RC actually led early, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning on Blake Nelson’s double. However, the Muskrats failed to add to their lead, leaving two runners in scoring position with no outs. Surrey pitcher Brady Schwan was able to strike out three Muskrat batters to end the threat.
The loss dropped RC to a loser-out game on Thursday, July 24.
