By Staff | Jun 24, 2009

Kelly Henderson stretched his IMCA Stocks season points lead at the Geographical Center Speedway following its third win in four races.

The Minot driver held off Joe Flory to win the June 19 feature in Rugby. Justin Striefel, who is second behind Henderson in the points race, finished third. Rugby’s Tyler Dosch was fifth in the feature.

Henderson nows enjoys a six point advantage with just two races remaining.

In the Pure Stocks class, Brad Fritel also extended his points series lead, but the Rugby driver wasn’t behind the wheel.

Derek Bush was Fritel’s substitute driver for feature and captured the checkered flag. Bush, a veteran racer, last competed at track last year in the IMCA Modified class. However, that class was dropped this year at the speedway.

Brenton Wiesz was second with Paul Kirkeide, making his GCS debut this season, was third. Veteran driver Larry Vetsch of Rugby finished eighth. He was driving Jay Loughman’s car. Rugby’s Katelyn Hermanson was 11th and Tony Koble was 13th.

First-timer Dustin Strand captured the Wissota B-Mod feature race, holding off points leader Jim Morlock of Pettibone. Ryan Mikkelson was third.

Willow City’s Josh Sattler was fourth and Rugby’s Kelly Bonn was fifth.
