Morlock wins Wissota Mod feature at GCS
It was a cool night for racing, but car counts were good and a new racing class featured highlighted the season opener at Rugby’s Geographical Center Speedway on May on May 8.
There was 14 cars competing the Super Stocks; eight in the IMCA Stocks and 11 in the Wissota B Modifieds.
And speaking of the Wissotas, Jim Morlock of Pettibone took the first-ever feature held at the speedway, holding off Rugby’s Josh Sattler. Scott Bintz of Jamestown was third. Rugby’s Kelly Bonn was sixth.
Minot’s Kelly Henderson, no stranger to the GCS, captured the first feature of the season in the IMCA Stocks. Tim McCloud of Belcourt, another veteran racer, was second. Justin Streifel was third. Rugby’s Tyler Dosch had engine touble and did not race in the feature.
Local driver Brad Fritel won the feature in the Sports Stocks, holding off Tiffany Sten of Devils Lake. Bottineau’s Tyson Page was third.
Racing will return this Friday, May 22, beginning at 7 p.m. with hot laps at the track located the Pierce County Fairgrounds. It’s also Kids Night and children will be able to ride in race cars among some other special features.
