Panthers sweep boys’, girls’ cross country meets
Both the Panthers varsity boys’ and girls’ cross country team took home first place at the Carrington Cardinal XC Meet held at the Carrington Golf Course Tuesday, August 2.
The boys’ team took home first place with a total of 70 points in the meet. Their top runner and individual winner for the 5,000 meter was Rugby High junior Brayden Green. Green took home first place with a run of 17 minutes even. The next closest runner for the Panthers was junior Brayden Herman, who finished just over two minutes after Green with a time of 19 minutes and 16 seconds and finished eleventh in the race. Both runners beat their season records at the meet. Green took second place at the North Dakota Class B East Regional Cross Country Championship in his 2024 season where he ran his 5,000 meter personal record with a time of sixteen minutes 41 seconds. Green also placed fifteenth at the 2024 North Dakota Cross Country State Class B Meet with a time of 17 minutes 11 seconds. Jamestown finished runner-up to Rugby at the meet on Tuesday, August 2.
The varsity girls’ team also took home first place in the meet with a total of 16 points. Rugby’s top runner for the girls’ team was senior Hannah Senechal. Senechal took home first and was the girls’ individual winner of the event with a time of 19 minutes 53 seconds. It was her new season record. Senechal took home second place in the 2024 North Dakota Cross Country State Class B Meet, breaking her personal record in the 5,000 meter with a time of 19 minutes 47 seconds. Four other Panthers on the girls’ team earned a top ten spot in the Carrington Cardinal XC Meet. Junior Evyn Jacobson took home third place, freshman Allie Monroe took fifth, eighth grader Katelyn Shively placed sixth and freshman Kami Arnston landed at eighth. The Jamestown girls’ cross country team finished runner-up to Rugby with a total score of 55.
