Former Panthers lead Jimmies 4×400 to win

The Jimmies ran the 4 x 400 Meter Relay in 4:01.86 on Saturday in Mitchell, SD at the DWU Open Indoor Meet. That time qualifies them to compete in the NAIA National Indoor Championships in Pittsburgh, Kansas on March 1-3, 2018.

Rugby Panthers make up half of the relay team. The other half of the team is Jamestown Blue Jays.

Kylee Voigt (sophomore Jamestown, ND) led off and handed to Hannah Christenson (senior Rugby, ND). Hannah passed the baton to Kaiann Arellano (senior Jamestown, ND), and the anchor was Emily Stier (junior Rugby, ND). Emily’s 59.5 was the top split in the effort. The Jimmies won the event by 6 seconds over Dordt College second in 4:07.90.

Earlier in the meet, Hannah placed 3rd in the 600 meter run in 1:38.76 missing the NAIA qualifying mark of 1:38.70 by 0.06 seconds.

Emily placed 4th in the Long Jump in the same meet. Emily jumped her season best last week at UND with a mark of 16′ 8 “. Emily also currently ranks first in the North Star Conference in the 200 meters at 26.94.

Hannah ranks second in the open 400 and 600 on the North Star Conference performance list.
