Rolette’s Jalen Pfeifer to play football at Valley City State

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (VCSU) – Valley City State University (N.D.) football coach Dennis McCulloch has announced that Jalen Pfeifer (Rolette, N.D./Rolette Public School) has signed a letter of intent to continue his academic and football career at VCSU.

A 6-foot, 180-pound quarterback, Pfeifer helped North Prairie to a state runner-up finish last year in North Dakota 9-man football.

Pfeifer’s strong senior season earned him State Senior Athlete of the Year and the Region 4 Senior Athlete of the Year. He was also named 1st Team All State.

Pfeifer completed 64 percent of his passes (81-126) for 1,302 yards and 22 touchdowns last season. He also racked up 688 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground.

As a junior, Pfeifer was named 2nd Team All State as a defensive back. He was a three-time All Region selection during his career.

Pfeifer is the son of Tim and Julie Pfeifer. He plans to major in elementary education while at VCSU.

Valley City State University is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and plays in the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) conference.

VCSU is coming off a 7-3 season in 2015 and finished second in the NSAA standings. The Vikings had won the previous four conference championships and advanced to the NAIA National Playoffs in 2014. The Viking football program has posted a 16-5 overall record the last two seasons and is 25-4 in conference play since 2011.
