Panthers Beyond: Jimmies Take Top Three in Croo
The Jimmies brought home a first place plaque and several T-shirts as Jamestown finished 1-2-3 in the Viterbo Hokum Karem Twilight Meet on Friday night in LaCrosse, Wis., to record a perfect score of 6 in winning the event.
The Jimmie pair of soph Amber Posner (Pillager, Minn.) and senior Samantha VanHeuveln (Danvers, Minn.) finished first in 38:20 over the 6 x 1 Mile Relay race. Between them, they averaged 6:24 per mile.
Soph Symbria Bell (New Town) and freshman Allie Foster (Rugby) finished second in 40:07, averaging 6:42. Junior Tiffany Jackson (Castaic, Calif.) and soph Cassidy Peterson (Velva) came in third in 41:12, averaging 6:53.
“Samantha ran the best average mile splits of the entire field. Amber Posner was second, Allie fourth, and Symbria sixth,” said Jimmies Coach Jim Clark.
The Jimmie team of freshman Amber Robinson (Mt. Pleasant, Wis.) and senior Camille Lynn (Brookings, S.D.) finished 20th by averaging 7:48.
“It was a fun night with a funky format,” Clark said. “It was motivating and interesting. I think we came away with some badly needed confidence.”
The Jimmies finished ahead of Martin Luther College, Maranatha Baptist, Viterbo, and Northland. The meet was run after dark on and around a lighted soccer field. Each runner ran 3 timed miles relay style with a partner.
“It was a good trip and a good weekend,” Clark said.
