McClintock thriving at SCSU
St. Cloud State University freshman Jack McClintock, a 2014 RHS graduate, shot a 2-over par 146 to help the Huskies to a second-place finish at the school’s fall classic Sunday and Monday. McClintock shot even par in the final round and the came up seven stroke shy of Minnesota State-Mankato (574).
McClintock was third on the team and tied a Mankato golfer for seventh overall.
The 2014 North Dakota Class B high school champion continued his strong play following a three-round 224 at the University of Nebraska-Kearney Invite on Sept. 15-16.
The Huskies took fourth overall with a team score of 899, 32 strokes back of Mankato. McClintock sandwiched his tournament low 70 between a 79 and 75.
Miller scores for Jamestown golf
University of Jamestown freshman Benji Miller, a 2014 RHS graduate, shot a 17-over par 161 at the school’s invitational Sunday and Monday at Jamestown Country Club. Miller was the eighth best Jimmie and tied two other for 22nd place out of 41. UJ won the tournament with its top four combining for 15-over 591.
Miller also played well in a pair of rounds at the Dakota Wesleyan Invitational in Mitchell, S.D., Sept. 12-13. Miller finished fourth of five Jimmies with a two-round score of 164. He tied for 73rd of 90 competitors from 12 schools.
Longie, Aide helping Bobacts
With a pair of former Bottineau-Rugby Braves on the roster, the Bismarck Bobcats of the North American Hockey League are off to a 2-2 start.
Cody Longie is tied for second on the team with four points, all coming on assists. Harrison Aide has one assist in three appearances.
The Bobcats played three games at the NAHL Showcase from Sept. 17-19 in Blaine, Minn. After an ugly 7-0 loss to the Soo Eagles (Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.), Bismarck responded with a 6-1 win over the Springfield (Ill.) Jr. Blues. Both former Bottineau standouts picked up assists in the game.
Longie added his second assist in a 4-1 win over Janesville (Wisc.) Jets. The team fell 4-2 at the Minot Minotauros on Sept. 20, but Longie continued his strong play, assisting on both Bobcat goals.
The Bobcats played at Aberdeen (S.D.) on Friday and host Austin (Minn.) tonight.
