Tim Chapman/PCT Cars converge at the Pierce County Fair's demolition derby July 6.

The demolition derby returned to the Pierce County Fair as participants from around the area smashed into each other Sunday.

Cars highlighted the afternoon as the fair decided to showcase smaller vehicles instead of big trucks.

Jackson Bernstein, of Bottineau, won the event after also taking first in his heat. Justin Page, of Dunseith, and Steven Mattern, of Rugby, finished second and third, respectively.

Mattern was a first heat winner. Page and Nathan Yoder, of Rugby, won the second heat. Consolation winners included Chris Guse, of Rugby, and Levi Pollman, of Willow City.
