Alyson Schepp, Christie Jaeger, Danielle McCabe, Paola Trottier and President Chad Hager of the Rugby Dollars for Scholars attended the ninth annual North Dakota Dollars for Scholars Conference held in Fargo on Saturday, Jan. 21.
Chapter representatives learned about volunteer recruitment, investments and fundraising. For attending the conference, the Chapter received a $1,000 donation from Bank of North Dakota.
N.D. Dollars for Scholars has 68 community chapters in the state. Bank of North Dakota provides a state director and operational support for local chapters. Since the first chapter was established in Grand Forks in 1962, Dollars for Scholars chapters in North Dakota have raised $34 million and 26,390 students.
This year, the local chapter plans to distribute approximately $10,000 to local high school students and recent graduates attending college. Events such as the Rugby Dollars for Scholars Annual Gala, Football Frisbee Toss and Basketball 50/50 Raffles increase the funds available for the students. Individuals and families may donate directly to the local chapter.
