Thank you for supporting Relay for Life event
Recently, more than 300 men, women and youngsters from around our area took to the track at Johnsen Field to participate in the American Cancer Society’s Pierce County Relay For Life. This year’s Relay For Life raised more than $48,000 for the Society and its mission to save lives and create more birthdays by helping people stay well and get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back against cancer.
I want to take this time to thank everyone who worked so hard in making the Relay For Life such a success: starting with a sincere and heartfelt “Thank you!” to every member of our planning committee and to the many volunteers who worked to make sure every area was covered.
Of course, our corporate sponsors played a huge part in funding the Pierce County Relay For Life. Their generosity paid for the purchase and rental of everything that was needed for an event of this magnitude. A big thanks also goes to the local businesses and individuals who donated prizes and silent auction items.
Next, I want to thank the survivors that led us in the first lap. They are the inspiration for our Relay. I also want to acknowledge the teams. Without them, we would not have had a Relay. They worked tirelessly; going out into their community to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.
Finally, I want to thank every resident within our area who donated to this year’s Relay For Life. Because of you, we are one step closer to finding a cure. I look forward to seeing all of you next year!
