Local support makes party a success
To the businesses of Rugby, the parents of RHS juniors and seniors, and to the students who attended the After Prom Party:
The 2009 After Prom Party has been recorded as a success in the record books. With overwhelming gratitude, the After Prom Party volunteer parents want the people of our community to know that this event was possible because of the generosity of our local businesses and citizens of our community.
Parent volunteers organized the event that ran from 12:30-3:30 a.m. in the Rugby Armory. The goal was to provide a safe, drug- and alcohol-free atmosphere for all RHS juniors and seniors and their dates. This well-chaperoned event included food, entertainment, games, and prizes.
The community of Rugby once again showed how willing they are to invest in the lives of our youth. It’s also important to note that our youth were very aware of this investment and genuinely appreciated all that was planned for them. Of the more than 100 students who were eligible to attend the party, only five students chose not to attend. Most students participated in the event until 2:30 a.m., and nearly 60 percent stayed until the party was over at 3:30 a.m.
All those involved with the After Prom Party wish to thank our businesses for their generous investment in our youth through their donations, and we want to commend our youth on their behavior and attitude of appreciation for all that has been done for them.
