Summer Happenings

By Staff | Jun 10, 2016

I love the response when you ask someone, “How are you doing?” And the response you get is, “Busy!” It’s just a relative term and honestly, who isn’t busy?

With that, as I’m typing the heat reads 86 degrees; summer is officially here! The summer is going to blow past us before we know it. If you have yet put anything in your calendar, here are a few things so you can actually say you’re busy, OR let them know what you are up to!

First and foremost, if you haven’t voted yet, don’t forget! The primary is next week, June 14, and includes local government elections along with a number of measures.

In case you haven’t heard, Rugby and Pierce County has a number of significant things going on this summer. The all-school reunion is scheduled for July 1-3 and will bring people to Rugby. The committee is planning a number of events and is looking for people to get registered so they can plan accordingly.

If that doesn’t bring people to Rugby, the Pierce County Fair is celebrating their 100th year. Again a board is busy planning and organizing a memorable celebration. Plan to attend as much as you possibly can.

Do you have a business or a class reunion and not sure how to take part? How about a float in the parade! It’s on Sunday, July 3rd! Let’s make it big and special!

With that, there is always help needed for community events, so plan to partake and if you are able – lend a hand. It’s a big undertaking to have a successful event and if we don’t all pitch in, nobody can guarantee that they will take place down the road. We’ve been fortunate that there is always a handful of people and organizations willing to take on the grunt of the work. Please if you see any of these workers, thank them but also offer a helpful hand.

If you are part of an organization that is interesting in coordinating an activity or sponsor an event – feel free to contact a committee member, I know they will be so grateful for the assistance and your willing to help! This will help everyone enjoy the events, but also give yourself a little satisfaction in being part of it all! We all should be proud of our community – help spread the cheer and the boost to Rugby through activities! I hope to see you all out and about!
