One Last Rant…..
To those of you that have taken being politically correct to an art form, I hope you can live with the blood that now drips from your soiled hands. With the 14 dead and 21 injured in the ISLAMIC EXTREMIST SAN BERNARDINO TERRORIST ATTACK, you are now part of the problem. The signs were there, neighbors saw it, they wanted to speak out but they were scared of you more than the possibility of terrorists attacking our country.
Why? Because you yourselves are terrorists of thought, of intellect, of freedom of speech, of common sense. You take words and assign your own warped sense of values on them and then expect all of us to accept your definition such as:
The American Flag – Schools around the country have banned students from displaying the flag at schools for a multitude of reasons, including banning it on May 5, also known as Cinco de Mayo because it could be considered offensive to Mexicans.?Peanut Butter Sandwich – Deemed by a Portland grade-school principal to be culturally insensitive to children of other cultures.?American – ‘I am proud to be an American’ is now considered offensive because using the term implies that the U.S. is the only country in the continents of North and South America thus making it superior. (My thought is ‘your point?’)
Homosexual – It’s no longer politically correct enough and there are those who feel it should be replaced with the term “same gender loving”.
Pet Owner – It is becoming less acceptable to “own” animals; pet owners have been transformed into “pet guardians”.
Sitting Indian Style The term actually originated from the Country of India but now it is considered offensive to Native Americans for some reason. The new term used to sit crossed legged is ‘criss-cross applesauce’.?Holding Down the Fort – It’s now offensive to Native Americans, since we all know who the forts were being held down against.?Rule of Thumb – Because it originates from the old English dictum that a husband could not beat his wife or children with any stick wider than his thumb.?Handicap – Aside from the “disabled” reference, “handicap” can be offensive to beggars, with ‘cap in hand’.?Caucasian Is a no-no now, and instead we are encouraged to use the more politically correct ‘European-American individuals’.
Elderly – Has a negative connotation and should be replaced by ‘people of an advanced age’
There are some who feel the words “mothering” or “fathering” should no longer be used. It is thought (and I use that word loosely) we should avoid gendering a non-gendered activity. What??
Recently, University of California President Janet Napolitano, who also served as United States Secretary of Homeland Security from 2009 to 2013 under President Barack Obama, issued a list of microaggressions that all faculty should avoid using if they want to keep their jobs. Napolitano believed the listed phrases and questions may harbor covert racism or sexism and should therefore be banned from the universities. Surprisingly enough, this list of taboo ‘perceived microaggressions’ included many common questions and phrases seemingly devoid of any ill intent. One of the banned, supposedly offensive phrases is “America is a land of opportunity.” According to Napolitano and her politically correct cohorts, such a phrase is a form of coded, covert racism that creates a toxic campus culture. Other phrases university faculty were banned from saying include “America is a melting pot,” “I believe the most qualified person should get the job,” and “There is only one race, the human race.” Another banned phrase was “When I look at you, I don’t see color.” Faculty were also banned from asking students basic small talk questions, such as “Where are you from?” and “Where were you born?” It is this process of thought and the individuals of this ilk who bully, who are condescending and condemn those who do not think the same they do that led to the San Bernardino Terrorist attacks.
This minutia of political correctness is permeating through our colleges and universities and what it is doing is making our country weaker by the day and our intellectual prowess questionable.
While you flounder through intellectually impotency – stained with the blood of the San Bernardino Islamic terrorism victims, trying to rationalize your way of thinking and doing all you can to make sure everyone thinks the same way you do – I will be holding down the fort of rationale thought, proud of our heritage, proud of the principles we were founded on, proud that this country was established with the freedom of speech as one of its most basic rights, and most importantly proud to be an American. No matter how hard you try you can never take that way from me.
