Still some summer left
We endured a long, snow-filled winter to reach warmer days, but unfortunately not too many warm days have come.
It took until mid-June for the first 80 degree day to arrive in Rugby, and the first 90-plus day came in late July.
Of course, some prefer a cooler, more comfortable summer while others like it hot.
Regardless of your preference, one thing is for sure – the days are getting shorter and summer is moving briskly along.
But don’t fret. There is still time be outside and enjoy the weather.
-Time to take in some remaining community events and possibly plan a few small vacations before the school bell calls students back to class.
-Time for early morning walks and evening family bike rides.
-Time to fill up the backyard kiddie pool or for them to spend afternoons at the city pool.
-Time to tend to flower gardens.
-Time for a few more rounds of golf.
-Time for a picnic in the park.
-Time for a rummage sale.
-Time to invite the neighbors or friends over for a barbecue.
And let’s not forget…
-Time to take in the annual Balta Dam Demolition Derby and Little Flower Corn Feed this Sunday, Aug. 2.
-Time to take in the annual Village Fair at the Prairie Village Museum in Rugby on Sunday, Aug. 9.
-Time to take in the final Lions Club Music in the Park concert at Ellery Park on Wednesday, Aug. 12.
Make sure you take advantage of these remaining community events or make a point to at least get outdoors. As we experienced last year, North Dakota’s winter can be long and harsh and make us long for summer.
We still have a little summer left before we once again are confined to our homes.
Get out and enjoy it.
