Farewell, but not goodbye
Eight years ago on August 1, 2012, I was blessed with the opportunity to start my first day as the NDSU Extension Agriculture and Natural Resources Agent here in Pierce County. After spending 7 years in Milbank, S.D., as a dairy herdsman and later as an animal science instructor at Lake Area Technical Institute, I was excited for the opportunity to come back close to home. I have been extremely proud to be a part of Pierce County and cannot say enough about how great of an environment we have to work and live.
After careful thought and consideration, I have accepted a position as a Rangeland Management Specialist with the Pierce County Natural Resource Conservation Service. Those who know me know that conservation and stewardship of the land is near and dear to my heart. So when the opportunity to pursue a lifelong career goal with the Natural Resource Conservation Service presented itself, I could not let the opportunity pass me by.
NDSU Extension and the Pierce County Extension Program truly mean a great deal to me and I am especially proud of the projects that have been established with agriculture producers and partners over the past eight years. I am also extremely proud of the accomplishments that our 4-H’ers have made in the past and will continue to make into the future. The success of the 4-H program is largely due to the patience, encouragement and support of our volunteers, parents, and 4-H members!
Accepting this new position is exciting, however, I will certainly miss the 4-H’ers, families and working with so many wonderful people across Pierce County! I may be saying farewell as I move to the Natural Resource Conservation Service, but I am not saying goodbye. I look forward to continuing to work with Pierce County agriculture producers and continuing to collaborate with NDSU Extension in my new role.
I would also like to say thank you to each person that has called or sought out information from me at the Extension office over the last eight years. Each question is different, and each answer has been different. The office will continue to be open and my assistant, Haley, will be able to put you in touch with the appropriate person to answer your questions until my replacement is found.
Thanks for all the support and memories! Until we meet again, take good care!
