4-H Awards Night and Sponsor Appreciation Supper upcoming
The Annual 4H Awards Night & Sponsor Appreciation Supper will be held Wednesday, November 8 at the Rugby Eagles Club, beginning at 5:30pm.
This is an evening where the Pierce County 4-H program recognizes our friends, volunteers, members, and sponsors for their contributions and achievements. Fall is a great time to hold this event, as one 4-H year concludes and another begins.
This year’s supper will feature a main course provided by Arnold’s Misfit Acres BBQ and side dishes provided by 4-H families.
In addition to recognition of youth achievements and appreciation of sponsors, 4-H’ers will be providing a Livestock Quiz Bowl demonstration. Livestock Quiz Bowl is a new contest event that became available to 4-H members during the spring of 2018. The new livestock quiz bowl contest provides an opportunity for youth enrolled in 4-H livestock projects to demonstrate their knowledge of animal science-related subject matter in a friendly, yet competitive, setting.
The livestock quiz bowl contest was developed for North Dakota 4-H’ers to stimulate learning in animal science and the agriculture industry. Additionally, this contest helps 4-H’ers develop positive interests and attitudes about animal science and related careers.
Youth are tested on all food animal livestock species, including beef, dairy, swine, goat (dairy and meat), sheep, poultry and rabbit as well as Youth for the Quality and Care of Animals (YQCA).
New families wishing to join Pierce County 4-H are welcome and encouraged to attend the Awards Night & Sponsor Appreciation Supper.
The registration deadline to be eligible to compete in this year’s upcoming 4-H Achievement Days is November 1. While new 4-H members can join at any time, in Pierce County they must join by the November 1 deadline to be eligible to compete in Pierce County 4-H Achievement Days. Exhibiting at Achievement Days is a requirement to fulfill 4-H membership and year completion requirements. The November 1 deadline also ensures that clubs and members will have adequate time to fulfill the 6-meeting requirement.
4-H is a program in which members work on projects throughout the year and exhibit their best work in project areas during Achievement Days held in conjunction with the Pierce County Fair.
