Spring Fever workshops coming soon
For the fourth consecutive year, the NDSU Extension Service will host its series of garden forums to help families care for their gardens and landscapes.
The Spring Fever Garden Forums will be held on Monday nights beginning on March 20 and going to April 10. A team of 12 educators will provide presentations on timely topics in gardening and landscaping. Sessions run from 6:30 to 8:30 CDT. The sessions are free and everyone is invited to attend, however, registration is requested for preparation purposes.
Pierce County is excited to once again be among one of 26 host sites across North Dakota! Each year more than 1,000 gardeners across North Dakota participate in this mega-event and last year approximately 300 gardeners from 50 counties also participated on their home computers.
I will be hosting these forums at the Pierce County Courthouse community room in Rugby at 6:30 pm on Monday, March 20th; Monday, March 27th; Monday, April 3rd, and Monday, April 10th. Each forum session will consist of broadcasts by topic experts in Fargo, followed by a chance to ask questions. I will also add comments providing localized information relating to each topic. Each week I discuss an additional topic to finish out the evening.
If you cannot make it to Rugby, you can register to watch the broadcasts on your home computer. Registration may be done by calling the Pierce County Extension office at 701-776-6234 ext. 5 or online at www.ag.ndsu.edu/springfever/ (if it fits your schedule you may attend some sessions in Rugby and watch others at home).
The broadcast topics of the first session on Monday, March 20th will include: “Spring Lawn Care”, “Soils for Your Gardens and Containers”, and “Prairie Meadow Gardens”. Following the broadcasts, I’ll also talk about various flower bulbs and seeds. On Monday, March 27th I will show some of the simple equipment I use for stating my transplants.
A complete breakdown of broadcast topics by date can also be found at www.ag.ndsu.edu/springfever/
