Moens make music

By Staff | Jul 25, 2014

Upham residents Duane and Marilyn Moen, along with their children – Hannah, Elizabeth, Amanda, Serena, Leland, Evan and Clayton – performed for Music in the Park for the first time as a family Wednesday.

“We didn’t know if there would be rain or if it would just be us,” Duane said.

Fortunately, there was no rain, and they were well received by a Rugby crowd.

The Moens performed instrumentals, as well as bluegrass and Southern Gospel. In addition to singing, they also played on violins, guitars, stand-up bass, mandolin and banjo.

The family is eager to perform again given the opportunity.

On July 30, Krista and Kendra Slaubaugh will play as pop country duo “Tigirlily”. There will also be an arts in the park event, with vendors selling arts and crafts, starting at 4 p.m., and a Lions Club picnic at 5 p.m.

Country/variety band Deliverance, a/k/a Buddy Huff and his friends from Minot, will play Aug. 6.

Returning favorite Kristi Goldade, the yodeling cowgirl from Wishek, will play Aug. 13.

Dakota Keys, an accordion group, will close out this season’s Music in the Park performances on Aug. 20. There will also be a third Lions Club picnic that night.

During all performances, Lions Club members also will scoop free ice cream.

In the event of inclement weather, tune in to AM 1450 KZZJ for information regarding an alternate location.
