The Return

of Christ

Most people acknowledge the fact that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came into this world as an infant. The fact some people forget, or find hard to imagine, is that Jesus Christ is coming again!

The Bible tells us that before Christ’s return, our world will go through severe trying times. (Matthew 24 and 2nd Timothy 3 are a few of the passages you can read to find out more regarding signs of the end times.) There will be wars, famine, plagues, disease, earthquakes, false doctrine propagated, anarchy, brutality, apostasy in the church, people being lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God, and people having a form of godliness without the real thing. We see these things happening all around us with increased measure. The Bible also speaks of the speed of transportation that would happen in the end times, as well as the increase of knowledge. Daniel 12:4- “… many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.”

I recently read an article that said it took George Washington eight days to travel 200 miles to his inauguration. The fact that it took eight days is not significant, but what is amazing is that Julius Caesar could have done it just as rapidly. No real progress had been made in transportation for thousands of years, but look at how our world has advanced in a very short period of time. Now we can travel around the world in a matter of hours. This past week it took me one hour to fly from Minot to Minneapolis, and 1 hours to fly from Minneapolis to Louisville, Ky.

The events occurring in our world today are some of the signs Jesus said would happen before his return. One of the greatest signs that would occur before Christ’s return is the preaching of the Gospel all around the world. Today more than ever the Gospel of Jesus Christ is being preached all over the world by personal witness, through literature, radio, satellite television, and the internet.

The questions the Bible asks of us regarding Christ’s return are, will He find faith in us when He returns? Will He find us expecting and ready for His return? The Bible tells us that nobody knows the day or the hour He is returning, but by the signs around us, we know we are quickly nearing the day of His return. Matthew 24:30- “Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all of the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with great power and great glory.” My friends, let’s be ready!
