Jerome William Voeller was born to Walter & Eleanor Voeller on August 5, 1948 in Rugby, North Dakota. He died at the age of 77 years on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 with family by his side at Trinity Hospital in Minot, North Dakota.

Jerome grew up on a farm near Orrin, North Dakota. He went to school there until the 8th grade when it closed. Then, he went to Rugby High School until he graduated in 1967. He was drafted into the Army in June of 1968. He spent time in Vietnam until he was wounded in Cambodia and sent home on June 9th, 1971. He earned two bronze stars and a purple heart for his bravery.

He married Penny Owens on May 26, 1972. They had three children: Rod, Tracey & Sheryl. Jerome and Penny loved to play cards, dance, and go camping and fishing. They loved to travel around the United States, especially Hawaii. Penny died July 18, 2008.

Initially, he worked for a construction company and went on to work for the Rugby City Street Department for 30 years. He spent a lot of those years driving the maintainer cleaning the streets.

Jerome met Kathy Lemon on December 31, 2010 and they were married on February 11, 2012.

Jerome loved to travel. Over the years, he has traveled with Kathy to Alaska, Hawaii, the Panama Canal, Mexico, and all over the United States.

He loved to spend time with his grandchildren. Whether it was teaching them to hunt, fish or fix things. He loved going to their sporting events, concerts, & plays no matter how far away they were.

He loved to trap shoot at the Rugby Gun Club and was the treasurer for many years. He often went to the State Trap Shoot in Bismarck early, just to watch the youth shoot. Jerome looked forward to the fall for deer and goose hunting. He was still doing both right before he passed away.

He is survived by his wife Kathy; his son, Rod; his daughters, Tracey and Sheryl. Tracey is married to Paul Cronin and has three children: Haley, Madison and Jackson. Sheryl is married to Nick Brossart and has three children: Joey, Jerry, and Tambrey. He has two stepchildren, Kevin and Keith Gault. Kevin is married to Lisa Gault and has four children: Donovan, Paige, Hannah, and Holden. Jerome’s great-grandchild is Paige’s daughter, Lennox Groves. Keith is married to Jennifer Gault and has three children: Maisie, Kiah, and Cowan. He is also survived by his siblings: Duane (Margaret) Voeller, Dennis (Dottie) Voeller, Loretta (John) Duchsherer, Raymond (Lorie) Voeller, Elaine (Dennis) Benson and Gloria (Leonard) Niess; his sister-in-law Sharon Hewitt; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Penny; his brother, Vernon; family of his first wife, family of his second wife and his two cats: Fluffy and Tigger.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Calvary Evangelical Free Church in Rugby with full military honors to follow outside of the church. Pastor Mike Lundberg, officiating. Burial will take place in the spring at the Little Flower Catholic Cemetery in Rugby.
