Evelyn Dale Paulson was born March 3rd, 1957 in Tempe, Arizona to Richard Dale Sr and Francis Joann (Smith) Scott. She died at the age of 68 years on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 with her family by her side at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
Evelyn was raised in the home of her parents and grew up in Arizona with her four sisters, Betty, Sylvia, Dianna, Paula and brother Dale Jr. In 1973, she was blessed with her first daughter, Kimberly. They moved to Minnesota in 1976 and in 1978, she was blessed with her second daughter, Tamera. She and her family returned to Arizona in 1982, where she lived until moving to North Dakota in 1992.
Evelyn met her soulmate, Virgil in 2002 and expanded her family, gained two sons and a daughter, Kyler, Chandler and Sherrice. She worked for many years at Crooks Lounge and later her and Virgil bought and ran the bar. She spent many hours every day serving the bar patrons, making many friends and lasting memories. In her free time, she enjoyed riding around checking deer cams and admiring the countryside with Virgil. She also had a lot of fun bowling and playing darts with her friends. After her heart attack in March 2016, she and Virgil decided to sell the bar and she retired. She was able to visit family more often after retiring and that made her very happy. She loved to tell her family about working on the farm with Virgil, helping with cows and fixing fences.
In November 2023, she was diagnosed with cancer and fought courageously for almost two years, doctoring at Mayo Clinic, Trinity Cancer Care Center, and Heart of America Medical Center. She always said her children were her greatest gift and biggest accomplishment. Her family was very important to her, whom she was so proud of and loved to talk about her eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Evelyn was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, partner and friend. She knew many people and always had a smile on her face and love in her heart. She will be missed dearly, never forgotten and will forever be in our hearts.
Evelyn is survived by the love of her life for almost 24 years, Virgil Lemar; children, Kimberly Paulson (Robert), Tamera Paulson (Ryan), Kyler Lemar (Jessica), Chandler Lemar, Sherrice (Justin) Roness; grandchildren, John West Jr, David Noyes, Tim Brame Jr, Evan Volk, Andrew Lemar, Kira Lemar, Kayden Roness and Kynzlee Roness; great grandchildren, Abel West, Becca Brame, Leighney Brame, Elijah Brame, Abigael Reiss-Volk, Ryatt Reiss-Volk and Woods Lemar; brother, Richard Dale Scott Jr (Missie); sisters, Sylvia Ellison, Dianna Marsh, Paula Williams and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
