Larry Eugene Slaubaugh, 83 of Wolford, North Dakota died unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at Trinity Hospital in Minot, North Dakota. Larry, the son of Elmer and Anna (Graber) Slaubaugh, was born on December 11, 1941 in Rugby, North Dakota.
Larry was raised in the farm home of his parents and received his education at Scotchblock Country School, rural Wolford until going to high school, where he graduated from Wolford Public School in 1959. He then continued to farm with his father. On July 21, 1962, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Ellen Mae Pantsari at All Nations Church in Rock Lake, North Dakota. The couple made their home on their farm in rural Wolford, where they farmed and raised their three children they were blessed with. Larry was an active member in his community, serving on the Wolford School Board, coaching elementary and junior high boys basketball for many years, and played softball with the local league for many years. He proudly showed Chianina, Blonde D’aquitaine, Maine-anjou cattle.
Larry was an avid Minnesota Twins, Vikings, Timberwolves and Gopher fan. He was especially proud when he got to meet Tony Oliva of the Minnesota Twins. He was a natural auctioneer and shared his skills at MCC and family reunion auctions. He was very active in his church, Lakeview Mennonite Church. Larry continued to farm for many years, later with his son and then his grandson, Brooks. He was proud to watch his son and grandson take over. He was a man of faith, who took pride in all he did and enjoyed life. He was a devout man, who took care of his family, especially his wife, Ellen Mae. They did everything together, you would rarely see one without the other by their side. He had a blessed life full of love and kindness, who will be missed.
Larry is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ellen Mae; son, Carlan (Rhonda) Slaubaugh of Wolford; daughters, Cara (Joe) Andersen of Freeman, SD and Carmelle (Myles) Miller of Marion, SD; grandchildren, Brooks (Kimberly) Slaubaugh, Brandon Slaubaugh, Tyler Andersen, Megan (Jared) Groathouse and Tayaih Miller; great grandchildren, Abigail and Braxton Slaubaugh; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Slaubaugh and Phyllis Pantsari; many cousins, nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Herb Slaubaugh; his parents; sisters and brothers-in-law, Hazel and Severi Eckholm, Francis “Swede” and Anna Hunt, Shirley and George Lewis, Harold Pantsari, Edie and Orlando “Bud” Dunham; nephews, Dallas Slaubaugh and Shawn Pantsari.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 27 at Harvest Church (Lakeview Mennonite Church) north of Wolford with burial to follow in the Lakeview Cemetery. Pastor Fred Kanagy, officiating.
