Avis Helmuth, 81 of Dublin, Ohio died peacefully at The Grand of Dublin in Dublin, Ohio. She was born on January 17, 1944 to Ervin and Sarah (Miller) Helmuth in Rugby, North Dakota.

Avis was raised in her family home of her parents in rural Wolford, North Dakota and graduated Valedictorian from Wolford High School, the class of 1962. She continued her education in nursing training at Bottineau School of Forestry, graduating in 1965.

She began her nursing career at San Haven, then in St. John’s, Newfoundland before returning home for a short time.

In 1976, she ventured to Columbus, Ohio, to follow her dream of working at a Children’s Hospital. It was there that she made her home and career at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital. She was passionate about her work, proud of her accomplishments and was eager to continue to learn.

When mentoring others, she would give them the confidence they needed as well as the knowledge, often reciting the educational books word for word. She cared for, mentored and touched many lives.

Avis was adventurous, brave and independent, she learned how to drive and got her driver’s license in Ohio, traveled to the World’s Fair in Montreal and made it to two Kentucky Derby’s.

She loved her trips home to the farm, especially during the spring planting season. It was a time for her to relax, unwind, reflect and recharge. She would enjoy it when her family would visit her or just keep in touch. She had a kind, caring heart, with a blessed life with her family, career and friends and will be dearly missed.
