Norman Richard Erickson, 81 of Rugby died peacefully on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at his home under the care of his family and hospice. He was born on September 26, 1943 in Minot, North Dakota to Edward and Lucille (Gustafson) Erickson.
Norman was raised and attended school in Minot and graduated from Minot High School. After high school, he began working as a pressman for the Minot Daily Newspaper and continued to work there for 45 years until his retirement. Norman met Sharon Amon 65 years ago and they were united in marriage on September 29, 1962 at Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby. The couple made their home in Minot and were blessed with four boys. When their home was flooded in the 2011 flood, they made the move to Rugby, where they currently reside. The family enjoyed spending time at their place at Rice Lake, then Parshall Bay and after moving to Rugby at Lake Upsilon. Norman enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his boys. He also found peace tending to his yard work and in his garden.
Norman is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sharon of Rugby; sons, Mike of Minot, Stephen (Kim) of Minot and Sandon of Rugby; grandchildren, Jordan and Lindsay Erickson, Kali (Cody) Mattson and Cierra Erickson; 8 great grandchildren; a brother, Maynard Erickson of Minot; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son and daughter-in-law, Richard “Rick” and Kristi Erickson; sisters, Evelyn (Harley) Johnson and Yvonne (Earl) Johnson; sister-in-law, Rosie Erickson and his parents.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 7th at the Anderson Funeral Home in Rugby. Burial will be later in the spring at the Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby. Father Franklin Miller
