Alexander “Alex” James Kraft, 80, Rolette, died at his home on Sunday, March 9, 2025. He was born in Rolette on October 28, 1944 to Alexander James Kraft, Sr. and Rosina (Ripplinger) Kraft. Alex was reared in the Rolette- Rugby area and went to country school. He helped his father on their farmland in Wolf Creek, Finnegan, and South Valley Townships – Rolette County. He married Bonnie Ann Withey in Willow City on April 24, 1965. They moved to the farm in Wolf Creek in 1966. They farmed and drove Semi. Kavali trucking of Rolette was the beginning of his over the rode career. Alex and Bonnie owned and operated A & B trucking. They leased on with Star Transportation Inc. of Bottineau in 1986. He was recognized as a multi-million mile driver, having traveled to nearly every state in the USA. He retired in 2014. Remained on the farm to take care of Bonnie, who passed away on September 28, 2017. He was an avid storyteller. He loved to make people laugh. Sometime after Bonnie’s passing he continued to travel to visit old friends and make new friends. In 2018 he purchased a white dodge caravan to continue his adventures on the road. The grandkids named her “Mother goose”. He and “Mother goose” made many trips back and forth to Thief River Falls to visit his special friends. Lunch with the boys at Linda’s café, and a few more adventurous trips were top priority when he was home. He was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church in Willow City. He is survived by his children, James A. (Rondi) Kraft – Rolette and Kimberly (Jarrett Foss) Kraft – Rolette. He also leaves one sister, Martha Thingvold – Lemmon, South Dakota. In addition, he leaves his grandchildren, Benjamin Kraft, Theodore James (TJ) Martin and Alexandra Kraft.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, his sisters: Marion Hackman, Julia Thompson, Frances Hoium, Regina Bertsch, and Rosie Dokken and brothers: Walter, Frank and William Kraft.
A grave side memorial service will be held on his wedding anniversary, April 24th at 11:00 a.m. at the Notre Dame Catholic Cemetery in Willow City. He will be buried beside his wife, Bonnie. Following the burial a reception will be held at the Willow City Community Hall.
