Judith Fjellanger was born on August 13, 1944 to Pete and Margaret (Senger) Yager in Devils Lake, North Dakota. She died at the age of 80 years on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby, North Dakota. Judy was raised in Devils Lake until her family moved to the family farm in Crary, where she graduated from high school. Not long after that, she moved to Rugby and met Larry Fjellanger. They were united in marriage on April 18, 1964. The couple moved to his family farm southwest of Rugby and later purchased the farm from his parents. While on the farm, she would help out with the farming chores, mainly milking the cows and was a part of the “Neighborhood Homemakers Club”, which she enjoyed. Judy also worked at the Haaland Home from roughly 1986 to 1989. After 20 plus years on the farm, the couple moved into Rugby. Judy started a babysitting service, babysitting for numerous families and children for many years. She enjoyed embroidery, liked angel ornaments, enjoyed listening to oldies music with Larry and really enjoyed old western tv shows from the 1950’s and 60’s. With her German heritage, she really liked to cook different German foods, her specialty being Potato Dumplings. She loved her family, who will miss her dearly. Judy is survived by her sons, Jeff of Fargo and Kelly of Devils Lake; daughters, Sherry and Lori, both of Rugby and Susan of Bismarck; brothers, Joe Yager and Dennis Yager; sister, Joan Hagen; many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry (2021); son, Kent; parents, Pete and Margaret Yager; siblings, Geraldine Kuehn, Janice Miller and Tom Yager and nephew, Robert Wells. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 23 at Anderson Funeral Home in Rugby. Burial will be in the spring at Bethel Church Cemetery, south of Rugby. Pastor Sharon Baker, officiating.
