Rosemary (Rosie) Kraft Dokken was born on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1942 in Rugby, ND to Alex and Rosina (Ripplinger) Kraft. Rosie was one of ten children. She grew up on a farm in Rolette County, where she went to country school and attended high school in Rugby, graduating in 1960. She married Darrell Dokken in 1962 and they resided in Rugby, until they moved to Leeds in fall of 1981.
Rosie enjoyed playing cards (whist and phase 10), gardening, watching western TV shows and she loved animals (she had many cats/dogs in her earlier years). Most of all she loved traveling countless times to Las Vegas, once abroad to Europe (Italy, France and England) and numerous bus trips with Kristi. Rosie worked many years as a home health aide for Benson County Social Services, then she was a postal clerk in Devils Lake until she retired in 2005.
Survivors include sons, Kelly (Barb) Dokken (Pine City, MN), Kory (Betty) Dokken (Leeds, ND); daughters, Jane (Clint) Holden (Conroe, TX), Kristi (Mitchel) Voller (Mobridge, SD); eight grandchildren, Katelyn Dokken (Billy) Marshall, Mitchell and Nolan (Jordan) Dokken, Stephanie Boagni, Jayden (Brianna) Holden, Casen Holden, Macie and Mallory Voller; five great grandchildren; brother, Alex Kraft Jr. of Rolette, ND and sister, Martha Thingvold of Lemmon, SD; her favorite niece, Carol Gilje of Kingman, AZ.
Rosie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Darrell; brothers, Walter, Frank and William Kraft; sisters, Frances Houim, Marian Hackman, Julia Thompson and Regina Bertsch.
Rosie passed away January 1, 2025 at the Walworth County Care Center in Selby, SD at the age of 82 after a four year battle with dementia. A Memorial Service will be held later in the spring in Leeds, ND.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at the Walworth County Care Center for their kindness, professionalism and friendship.
