Laurie Lou Koble, 69, of Rugby, ND died on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. Laurie was born August 18, 1955, along with her twin brother Larry, to Walter A. and Alice P. (Thompson) Koble. Laurie grew up in Rugby with her three siblings, Kathy, Ken, and Debbie. Laurie graduated from Rugby Public School in 1973, and later earned a degree in Early Education from Minot State University.
Laurie settled in Grafton in 1985, with her three children, Shane, Shawn, and Shannah. She spent many years working with disabled individuals as a case manager at the ND State School. Laurie eventually moved back to Rugby and continued working as a social worker, retiring in 2018.
Laurie loved her children dearly. As her three children grew up and started their own families, Laurie looked forward to hosting and cooking delicious food for them, and eventually loved visits from her nine grandchildren as well. They will cherish the Christmas ornaments that Grandma Laurie gifted them yearly and will think of her as they decorate their own Christmas trees in the years to come. She also enjoyed decorating and sewing beautiful quilts for her friends and family. Laurie loved being outdoors and camping, spending many summer nights around campfires at Devils Lake and Matecjek Dam.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Alice, a sister, Kathy, infant twin brother Larry, and baby brother James.
She is survived by her three children, their spouses, nine grandchildren, and two great grandchildren: Shane (Jamie) Johnson of Grand Forks, ND, their children Jadyn and Brooklyn; Shawn (Jackie) Johnson, Kindred, ND, their children Fisher, Finn, and Jett; Shannah (Chad) Lenz, Michigan, ND, their children Jasmyn, Mason, Holden, and Brendan; great grandchildren Ruger and Kambri; a sister, Debbie (Lee) Gigstad, Pembina, ND; and a brother, Ken (Denise) Koble, Rugby, ND; and several nieces and nephews.
