Marlene Eva Wentz Hines, 78, Fargo died peacefully on October 9, 2024, at Bethany Retirement Living in Fargo.

Marlene, the daughter of Walter and Elizabeth Ganje Wentz, was born in Rugby, North Dakota on October 21, 1945. She graduated from Rugby High School in 1963, and continued her education with a Bachelor’s Degree and later two Master’s Degrees, in business administration and guidance, from the University of North Dakota. She worked for various airlines for 32 years as an instructor and management and supervision of flight attendants. In her work she traveled to every corner of the world serving the traveling passengers. Upon her retirement she settled in Seattle, Washington where she enjoyed working for a catering service and volunteering at a grade school. In 2013, she moved to Asheville, North Carolina and married James F. Pilat on July 16, 2017. They moved to Rugby in 2019, and later to Fargo in 2021. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie # 3834 in Rugby and Little Flower Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband, James and siblings Walter (Bob) Wentz, Rugby, and Lorraine Keller, Portland, Oregon, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Delores Keller, Gladys Rust, Rose Hoffert and her twin sister, Marlys Hinchey.

Funeral services will be held at Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby, on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., followed by burial at Little Flower Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Niewoehner Funeral Home on Tuesday, from 5-7 p.m., and on Wednesday, from 8-10 a.m. There will be a prayer service on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. There is no reviewal at the church. www.niewoehnerfh.com 701-776-6222.
