Julia was raised on their family farm and attended a country school in Berwick. She worked on the farm until she met Frank J. Brossart. On June 18, 1946, she was united in marriage to Frank at St. Anselm’s Catholic Church in Fulda. The couple made their home on a farm east of Berwick until the fall of 1954, when they purchased a small grain and dairy farm north of Knox. Frank & Julia had 11 children. While raising their family, she helped raise chickens, milked cows, helped work in the fields and enjoyed yard work, especially gardening and her flowers. In 1978, Frank & Julia retired from their farm and moved to Rugby. She enjoyed retirement, especially the time with family and neighbors. In the fall of 2001, the couple moved to Valley Senior Living in Grand Forks. She continued to enjoy her gardening, as she had flowers outside of her apartment.
In addition to her gardening, Julia continued to be active through activities like reading, cooking, baking, embroidery, quilting, cross stitch, beading, sewing, coloring, word finds, journaling, scrapbooking, jigsaw puzzles and loved playing cards. She was a beautiful person inside and out, dedicated wife and mother, loved her family and loved cuddling with the little ones. Julia was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Knox, Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby, a member of Catholic Order of Foresters, Catholic Daughters, Christian Mothers, Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary and the 55 Club of Knox.
