Sadie Jelleberg, age 89 of Bottineau passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at a Minot Hospital. Funeral services were held at Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau on Saturday, March 11th at 10:30 a.m. Officiating at the service was pastor Carol Wendel.
Sadie June Fay was born on June 20, 1933, to John and Gunda (Ledfors) Fay in Rugby. She grew up on a farm near York, North Dakota until she was eleven years old, and the family moved to Rugby. In 1954, Sadie graduated from The Good Samaritan Hospital Nursing School in Rugby. This was the last class to graduate from the school.
She married Everett Jelleberg in September 1954. The couple settled on a farm near Gardena, ND. Sadie was involved in the farming operation, PTA, 4-H leader, Homemakers Club, and the First Lutheran Church in Bottineau. In 1971, the family moved to Bottineau.
Sadie worked at the Bottineau Clinic and Hospital, the Good Samaritan Home, and NDSU Bottineau. While employed as a nurse at the college, she completed her Associates of Art Degree. She was also active in teaching “I Can Cope” classes for cancer patients and their families. Sadie enjoyed traveling. She went to Europe with the International Music Camp band and choir tours as their nurse, traveled the western part of the U.S., and Ireland. After retiring from nursing in 1991, Sadie became a real estate agent.
Sadie and Everett enjoyed participating and watching sports, ice fishing, fishing, and playing cards. Sadie always had the coffee on and food to share with her visitors. Sadie was known for her caramel rolls, pies, and buns warm from the oven. Years after retirement, former college students still reached out and visited regularly.
Sadie reached the end of her journey here on Earth on February 22, 2023. She was welcomed into Heaven by her husband Everett, who passed away in 2017, as well as countless friends and family.
Left on Earth to carry on her legacy are Sadie’s four children: Jackie (Jerome) Migler, Susan Jelleberg, Bob Jelleberg, Sally Jelleberg; Grandchildren: Jessi Migler (Dan Sagisser), Jake (Megan Funk)Migler, Jennifer Johnson, Frank Swiontek (Lisa), Katie (Ben) Schestler, Chennettee Jelleberg, Sam Jelleberg, and Adyson Jelleberg; Great-Grandchild: Everett Swiontek; and Sisters: Pat Monger and Marge Krohn.
In addition to her parents and her beloved husband Everett, Sadie was preceded in death by her sisters: Betty Jones, Helen Drege, Frances Shuler, and brother Frank Fay.
The family requests memorials be made to Dakota College at Bottineau Nursing Program.
Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.
