Sharon Jansky
Dec. 4, 1951 – Nov. 13, 2022
Sharon Kay Jansky, the daughter of Frank and Esther (Leckron) Rice was born on December 4, 1951 in Rugby, North Dakota. She died at the age of 70 years on Sunday, November 14, 2022 at Trinity Hospital in Minot, North Dakota.
Sharon was raised on her family farm in rural Upham/Bantry area, where she attended school. She was a country-girl at heart and loved everything about living in a rural area. As a young girl, she would ride her dirt bike to town, always pushing the limit, having no fear and if she had a setback, she would get back up and go again. After completing her education, she worked at the Towner Nursery, where she met the love of her life, James Jansky. On November 8, 1974, she was united in marriage to James Edward Jansky at Hope Lutheran Church in Upham, North Dakota. They had their honeymoon at Glacier National Park and later traveled to Medora; but with James being active in the military and national guard, she was content staying at home raising their two boys and taking care of the household. James and Sharon were blessed with two boys, Scott and David, whom they are so proud of.
Sharon’s home was her sanctuary, she could have her family, garden and fur babies. She didn’t travel much, but if and when she did, she loved Medora. She loved animals and would take them in to give them a better, more loving life, especially dogs and she always had a dog named Pookie. She also loved horses. She enjoyed gardening and in her later years, she loved to walk to the garden, supervise and see how things were growing. There are many things she enjoyed in life like cooking, making sure everyone had enough food, driving the countryside, casinos, listening to music, singing along, sometimes just randomly singing, shopping for Knick knacks, and everything about Christmas. Sharon loved to visit, would talk to anyone around her and never ran out of anything to talk about, once you met her, she was your friend, who truly cared. She worried about everyone else and wanted to take care of everyone. She was a loving mother and friend, was blessed with her life and she will be dearly missed.
Sharon is survived by her sons, Scott (Daphne) Jansky of Towner and David Jansky of Hanover, MA; brothers, David and Gary Rice all of Towner; in-laws, Ron Jansky and Denise Jansky both of Ross; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2020; brothers, Donald and Eugene (Mary) Rice; sister, Delores Jones and her parents.
The family would like memorials to be made in Sharon’s memory to the Souris Valley Animal Shelter in Minot.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Nov. 18 at 1:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Towner with burial in Union Cemetery, Towner, Pastor Linda Wimmer, officiating.
