Theresa Brossart
July 10, 1929 – Aug. 29, 2022
Theresa Brossart, the
daughter of Joseph and
Katherine (Schmidt)
Bachmeier was born on
July 10, 1929 in the rural
farm home of her parents
near Fulda, North Dakota.
She died on Monday, Au-
gust 29, 2022 at the age of
93 years at the Heart of
America Care Center in
Rugby, North Dakota, sur-
rounded by her family.
Theresa was raised in
the home of her parents
and received her educa-
tion at the German Coun-
try School #4 near her
home. On June 6, 1948,
she was united in mar-
riage to Frank L. Brossart
at St. Anselm’s Catholic
Church in Fulda. Theresa
met Frank at a wedding
dance in Balta and Frank
knew at first sight that she
was the most beautiful
woman and would be the
love of his life. In 2019,
they celebrated 70 years
of marriage. The couple
raised their family and
farmed until retirement in
1987. Their son, Dwayne
took over the farm in 1988
and they moved to town
in Rugby.
Theresa had many pas-
sions, including tending
to her big garden as well
as her flowers during the
warmer months and sew-
ing, embroidery, cooking,
baking, all while keeping
everything nice and tidy.
Her biggest love and pas-
sion was her family, she
loved her children,
grandchildren and great
grandchildren and there
wasn’t anything she
wouldn’t do for them.
When she would make
clothes, quilts, dish
towels or anything, she
would make multiples, so
if one got one, they all re-
ceived the same. Theresa
cared for everyone’s needs
before her own and as
blessed as her family feels
to have her as mom,
grandma, she felt so
blessed to have them and
wanted nothing more than
to take care and love
them. Her grandchildren
have great memories of
baking cookies with her
and it is important to her
to pass down recipes from
her family and ancestry
for generations to come.
Theresa was a member of
the Little Flower Catholic
Church, Germans from
Russia, Christian Mothers
and volunteered at the
Heart of America Medical
Center, where she was
awarded volunteer of the
year in 2003. She lived a
wonderful, blessed life
and will live on through
her family, as her and
Frank raised them well.
