Dean Duane Vold, the
son of James and Violet
(Goodman) Vold was born
on July 12, 1963 in Fargo,
North Dakota. He died at
the age of 59 years on Sa-
turday, August 27, 2022 at
his home in Rugby.
Dean’s family moved to
Seattle when he was 3,
where he was raised and
graduated from Ballard
High School. He moved
back to North Dakota with
his former wife and
daughter. On October 16,
2004, he was united in
marriage to Mary
Duchscher. He was
co-owner and shop
manager at Johnson’s
Plumbing in Rugby until
his retirement in 2021 due
to his health. He excelled
at every job he did. He en-
joyed camping and just
driving around and had a
wonderful sense of
humor. He was a proud
dad and grandpa. His
friend’s children called
him ‘uncle Dean’. He will
be missed dearly by his
family and friends.
Dean is survived by his
wife, Mary of Rugby;
daughter, McKayla Vold
of Rugby; grandchildren,
Kaden Vold and Oaklynn
Yoder of Rugby; a sister,
Vicki (Mick) Boyd of Seat-
tle; brother-in-law, Martin
Dean; father-in-law, Ho-
ward Duchscher of Rugby;
a special auntie Carol
(Curdle) Delgado; nieces,
nephews; other relatives
and friends. He was pre-
ceded in death by a sister,
Cindy Vold; his parents
and his mother-in-law, El-
izabeth Duchscher.
Memorial services were
held at 10:30 a.m. Friday,
September 2 at the Ander-
son Funeral Home Chapel
in Rugby with burial at a
later date in Washington
State. Rev. Mike Lund-
berg, officiating.
