James F. McIntyre, 87,
Bismarck, passed away on
June 30, 2022 at Missouri
Slope Skilled Nursing.
A Mass of Christian
Burial will be held at
2PM, Wednesday, July 8
at Church of Corpus
Christi, 1919 N. 2nd St.
Bismarck, with Msgr. Pa-
trick Schumacher officiat-
ing. Visitation will be
held from 5 to 7 PM,
Tuesday July 7 at Parkway
Funeral Service, 2330
Tyler Parkway with a
vigil/rosary service start-
ing at 7PM.
James was born to
Owen and Margaret McIn-
tyre on August 23, 1934 in
Arena, ND.
He graduated from
Wing ND High School and
then Bismarck State col-
lege. After graduation he
enlisted in the U.S. Air
Force. He was stationed at
the Azore Islands and
then at Medina Air Force
Base, San Antonio, Texas.
He was in the U.S. Air
Force Reserve for six
years.
James married Wilma
Backer on May 23, 1956
in Wing. They had three
children, Jeffrey, Cynthia
and Gregory.
He worked for the
Bismarck State Fur Com-
pany and then was in
Management at the
Bismarck Post Office be-
fore moving to Rugby as
U.S. Postmaster, a posi-
tion he held until his re-
tirement. After retirement,
he got into trucking
around the state and
school bus driving for
Harlow’s for many years.
James was a lifelong
member of the Rugby
Knights of Columbus and
a member of the Rugby
American Legion. He
volunteered many hours
with the AA Association,
the Rugby church and
schools. He loved to fish
and hunt with his boys,
grandchild and family and
friends.
James is survived by his
wife, Wilma, children, Jef-
frey (Cathy) Cynthia (Ran-
dy) Eckroth, Gregory
McIntyre, grandchildren,
Breann (Nikki) McIntyre,
Kyle Eckroth, Jesse Eck-
roth, Billy (Amber) McIn-
tyre, Joe (Lucy) Zimney,
Dusty (Alesha) Zimny,
Shannon (Sherri) Zimney,
Savannah Arnot (James)
andfamilies;
great-grandchildren,
Kyren Eckroth, Mason
and Hanna Arnot and Iza-
bella, Emery and Aubrey
McIntyre; and brother,
Robert (Agnes) McIntyre
and families.
James was preceded in
death by his brothers and
sisters; Patrick (Norma),
Hugh (Luella), Richard
(Ann), MaryAlice (Al)
Bouche, Rose (Junie Eide)
and two siblings who
passed in childhood.
