Marilyn J. Johnson, age
84, resident of Mesa, AZ,
died Monday, February 8,
2021.
Marilyn Joyce McIntyre
was born February 17,
1936 in Rolette, ND, the
daughter of Gordon and
Beatrice (Boucher) McIn-
tyre. She was raised on a
farm with her two broth-
ers in Churchs Ferry, ND.
She was a graduate of
UND and began her career
as a Registered Nurse. As
a nurse she worked in
many settings including
hospitals, hospice, home
help, and retired after
many years of service at
Crosby Good Samaritan
Center. Marilyn married

21, 1959 in Leeds, ND.
They had lived in
Churchs Ferry, Rugby,
and Crosby, ND. They
loved to travel, having
visited all 50 states and
several countries. Mari-
lyn was legendary with
packing a car for camping
trips and road trips to
visit family. There wasn’t
a point of interest sign or
a casino she allowed Jim
to pass in the car. The
tradition of overpacking,
gambling, and exploring
continues with her family.
Marilyn had been a com-
mitted Girl Scout Leader
and was proud to have
visited 3 of their World
Centers in Mexico, Eng-
land, and the Swiss
Chalet in Switzerland.
She was also a member of
First Lutheran Church at
Rugby, the Order of the
Eastern Star, the Ameri-
can Legion Auxiliary, the
Eagles Auxiliary, and Rug-
by Senior Citizens. She
enjoyed spending her
time on the computer,
reading romance books,
and card games, especial-
ly Bridge. She loved
music & dance and at-
tending plays and con-
certs. In the last 10 years
she took great pleasure
taking various family
members to Ireland to
share her favorite places
and experiences there.
Despite her dislike of
steps, she completed a lot
of them in her 80’s explor-
ing castles, towers,
churches, and old cobble-
stone steps in France, Ire-
land, Wales & Scotland.
