Daniel N. Brossart

Jan 8, 2022

Feb. 13, 1935-Dec. 30, 2021

Daniel N. Brossart took

the final survey of his

wheat field on December

30th, then took the hand

of our Lord and was led

home.

Daniel Nicholas was

brought into this world on

February 13, 1935 by

Frank and Elizabeth

(Voeller) in his rural Rug-

by farmhouse. He was the

youngest of five children.

Daniel attended a

one-room country school

in Rugby and graduated

from Little Flower School,

before choosing that

working with his hands

and tending to the land

was his true passion. He

proudly farmed his

family’s land, taking great

pride in being steward of

the resources that God

gave him. Daniel’s very

identity was carved into

his farm. The seasons-

Spring planting, Summer

haying, and Fall harvest-

were annual traditions

that Daniel tirelessly dedi-

cated his life to. Daniel

was a man of few words,

and they were always the

truth. Simply, Daniel did

what he loved and loved

what he did.

Daniel was united in

marriage to Isabel Walter

on June 19, 1956, in

Karlsruhe, ND. They

made their home on the

Brossart farm where they

welcomed eight children.

Daniel and Isabel created

a home that was always

filled with love, laughter,

and shared stories. His

first love and devotion

was to his family. Daniel

was never more happy

than when surrounded by

those he loved. It was im-

portant to Daniel that his

family value hard work,

go to church on Sundays,

and share a meal around

the table while visiting.

Faith and family were

the focus of his days. He

planted deep roots for his

legacy, making sure we all

knew that doing the right

thing was not only recom-

mended but expected. His

words and example will

forever be a foundation

for his children, 23

grandchildren, 13 great

grandchildren, and 2

heavenly grandchildren.

He will be remembered as

a peaceful, kind grandpa

who was always smiling.

Always first to lend a

helping hand, Daniel

proudly served on the Lit-

tle Flower School Board,

Little Flower Church

Council, Rural Fire Pro-

tection District Board, and

Rural Water District

Board. He was a faithful

member of the Knights of

Columbus. Daniel and Isa-

bel were awarded the

NDSU Outstanding Agri-

culturist Award.

Daniel had many hob-

bies. He spent many years

perfecting his pickled fish

and homemade sausage

recipes, and they were al-

ways family favorites. He

traveled miles to find the

best headcheese and

spent hours in his garden.

Daniel lived his faith all

his days, shown by his

words and actions. On his

final day, although un-

planned, he willingly

answered God’s call and

followed Him home. Our

hearts are broken, but our

faith remains. When we

hear his chuckle, we will

know he is near.

Daniel is survived by

his wife, Isabel, of 65

years.
