Cynthia Kay Granger

Dec 2, 2021

Cynthia Kay Granger,

age 65, died at home

without pain on Nov. 26,

2021, with her daughter,

son-in-law, and friend of

many years, Tim Zweber,

at her side. Cyndi was a

strong, smart woman,

who had a beautiful smile

and never said anything

bad about anyone. She

had fought breast cancer

since 2011, and her treat-

ment nurses knew her as

the positive-minded pa-

tient with the shortest

med list they’d ever seen.

Born and raised in Rugby,

ND, Cyndi moved to the

Twin Cities in 1974 to at-

tend Bethel University

and eventually settled in

St. Louis Park. She made

her career in the apparel

industry, getting her start

at her dad’s men’s cloth-

ing store. She was a dedi-

cated, well-liked and

respected employee

everywhere she worked,

including Midwest Stores,

Braun’s, River’s End and,

most recently, Mercholo-

gy. For Cyndi, family

were friends and friends

were family. She was the

best listener and helper to

anyone — anytime and

anywhere. Seeing those

she cared about happy is

what made her happy, as

did music and singing,

Twins baseball, the joy

and wonder of children,

and ice cream and black

coffee. Cyndi is survived

by her best friend and

daughter, Megan (Dave)

Hanson, her grandson and

light of her world, Dierks,

and her grandpuppies,

Garth and River, as well

as: her stepchildren Tif-

fany (Pat) Bergstrom and

Mark (Anna) Granger, Jr.

and their children; her

uncle Kenny Tastad, aunt

Dot (Tommy) Hagen and

many cousins; her si-

blings Laurel (Kevin)

Toyne, Naomi (Tom)

Rislow, Sidonia (Bob)

Burnell, Sonja (Milt)

Myhre and Tim (Kristin)

Smith; her sisters-in-law

Susan (Jack) Stokes and

Donna Granger and

brother-in-law Vic (Peggy)

Belz; and dozens of nieces

and nephews and great

nieces and nephews. She

is preceded in death by

her husband and partner

of 25+ years, Mark

Granger, Sr., as well as:

her parents Loren and

Esther Smith; 10 aunts

and uncles; and brothers-

in-law Tom Granger, Curt

Denny and Mike Schmitz.

Cyndi was an organ donor

and, despite the family

tradition of terrible

eyesight, her corneas will

go to help someone in

need of transplant. Her

wish was to be cremated

and we will remember

and celebrate her life with

music and scripture at her

longtime church, Vista

Lutheran, in early 2022.
