Rodney Kegley

Rodney Lynn Kegley,

the son of Raymond and

Joan (Melrose) Kegley was

born June 13, 1952, in

Rugby, North Dakota. He

died at the age of 69 years

on Tuesday, October 12,

2021, at the Heart of

America Hospice in Rug-

by, North Dakota.

Rodney was raised in

the Wolford, North Dakota

home of his parents and

received his primary edu-

cation there. Following

his schooling, he was in-

ducted into the U.S. Army

on July 6, 1972, and was

stationed in Germany

where he pursued his

GED with the Army. He

was honorably discharge

from active duty on June

27, 1974, attaining the

rank of SP4. He returned

home to the Rugby/ Dun-

seith/ Rolette & Bottineau

areas where he made his

homes. Rodney worked

mostly as a farm laborer

for area farmers and for a

few years with the Turtle

Mountain Enterprises.

Rodney made his final

home at the Oak Manor

Apartments in Bottineau.

Oak Manor was a haven

for Rodney having made a

host of friends while liv-

ing there. He was often

called “The Peacekeeper,”

called upon many times

to fix anything going

wrong in the apartments.

It was place where he felt

needed and appreciated.

It was Home.

Rodney loved sports

and the outdoors, hunt-

ing, fishing and played

many years of softball. He

was a lifelong fan of the

Green Bay Packers, Min-

nesota Wild, Chicago

Cubs and UND’s Fighting

Sioux. Everything re-

volved around his sports

schedules. Rodney’s pride

and joy were his two chil-

dren, Jennifer and Rory.

Rodney was once married

to Sherri Christenson.

Rodney is survived by

his two children, Jennifer

Kegley of Minot, and Rory

Kegley of Williston; a sis-

ter, Brenda (Everett) Ken-

dall of Lake Park, Min-

nesota; a brother, Dale

Kegley of Rolette; special

friend & the mother of

Rory, Judy Beckman;

nieces, nephews, other re-

latives, and friends. He

was preceded in death by

his parents; two sisters,

Mary Jane Halvorson, and

Bonnie Enno.

Memorial services were

held Monday, October

18th at the Glad Tidings

Assembly of God church

in Rugby with burial in

the Wolford Community

Cemetery, Wolford. Rev.

Gary Dorn, officiate.
