Sandra Potterton
May 11, 1961-Sept. 19, 2021
Sandra Lynn Potterton,
age 60, was taken into the
arms of her Lord and Sa-
vior Jesus Christ on Sep-
tember 19, 2021 in Minot,
North Dakota.
Sandra was born on
May 11, 1961 in
Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In
1979, she graduated from
Martin Luther High
School in Greendale and
studied nursing at Viterbo
University in La Crosse
and Moraine Park Techni-
cal College in Fond du
Lac. She left Wisconsin
for North Dakota in 2001
to continue her nursing
career and has never
looked back.
Her vocational gift was
to help people, with a spe-
cial heart for the elderly.
Most recently she served
as an Administrative
Nurse at Heart of America
in Rugby. She was known
as a hard worker, offering
a smile, timely advice,
and a helping hand to
everyone. In 2015, her ef-
forts were recognized by
the North Dakota Long
Term Care Association
with the presentation of
the Caregiver Award.
Sandra also had a soft
spot for animals, and took
care of her three cats after
years of owning a variety
of critters including dogs,
cats, and even snakes!
She loved the outdoors
and was an avid fisher-
man. She could usually
be found with a book in
her hand, figuring out
something on her comput-
er, or working on a puz-
zle.
Physically life was hard
for Sandra, but she didn’t
complain and was always
appreciative of those who
cared for her. She was in-
fected with Covid-19 in
November and never re-
gained full strength, final-
ly succumbing to organ
failure after a brief stay in
the hospital.
Sandra was preceded
in death by her parents
Harold and June Potter-
ton, stepmother Minette
Potterton, and nephew
Adam Schkeryantz. She is
survived by her sister Lisa
(Mark) Hilgendorf and
their daughters Greta and
Emma, stepsiblings Lee
(Cathy) Roloff, Nancy
Luke, Carol (Dave)
Wenhardt, Mary (Scott)
Weigand, and Barbara
(Ken) Hausch, Uncle Ken
and Aunt Marie Potterton,
cousins, nieces, and
nephews.
