Patrick J. Schaan
Mar. 16, 1945-Sept. 24, 2021
Patrick Schaan, 76, died
peacefully on Friday, Sep-
tember 24, 2021 at
Benedictine Living Com-
munity in Garrison, ND.
Pat was born March 16,
1945 in Rugby, ND, to
Thomas and Mary
(Schmitt) Schaan. He had
4 sisters, Isabella,
Therese, Phyllis, and Eva,
and 5 brothers, Joe,
Emanuel, Edward, Tom-
my, and Clemens. Only
Phyllis and Eva survive
him. Patrick is also sur-
vived by many nieces and
nephews.
Pat graduated from
Bishop Ryan High School
in Minot, where he ex-
celled at football. After
graduation, Pat joined the
U.S. Navy where he was
part of the “boots on the
ground” in Nam. He was
also on Auxiliary Oiler
Group, U.S.S. Kawishiwi
AOG 146.
After his honorable
discharge from the Navy,
Pat moved to Oregon
where his brothers and
sister were living. He was
employed for US Ply-
wood, then Roseburg
Lumber, in Dillard, OR, as
a millwright.
Patrick moved back to
Minot in 1978, working
for Gravel Products as a
welder and repairing
equipment. He retired in
2007.
Pat enjoyed life. He
liked to fix things and
wood working. We never
found anything that Pa-
trick couldn’t fix. He en-
joyed barbequing with a
side of Bud, fishing, and
road trips with Donna. Pa-
trick was always looking
forward to doing some-
thing new and had a great
sense of humor.
Pat’s family invites his
friends to join them in
saying their last farewell
on Saturday, October 2,
2021 at 11 a.m. at Our
Lady of Grace Catholic
Church in Minot. Burial
will follow at Rosehill
Memorial Park in Minot.
