Thomas Duane Halls
died August 2nd, 2021 in
Rugby, North Dakota. He
was born August 11th,
1945 to William and Mar-
tha (Bareksten) Halls in
Bottineau, North Dakota.
After his mother passed
away suddenly, Thomas
and his sister, Diane,
went to live with their
grandparents on a farm in
Overly, North Dakota. He
graduated from Willow
City High School in 1963.
Thomas then attended
UND for 2 years and later
got drafted into the U.S.
army in 1966. He served
in Vietnam and was a
proud Vietnam veteran. In
June 1983, Thomas mar-
ried Bonnie Mae Diebold.
They moved to Rugby,
North Dakota and bought
a farm outside of town.
They became a family and
raised two daughters,
Sarah and Beth.
Tom’s passions were
many. They included res-
toring tractors, riding Har-
ley Davidsons, and play-
ing with anything that
was “old iron”. He loved
wrenching on anything
that he could find all the
way up to the end of his
life.
Thomas is survived by;
his wife, Bonnie Halls;
daughters, Sarah (Corey)
Morin and Beth (Jon)
Swanson; grandsons,
Winston Swanson and fu-
ture grandson Morin;
nieces, nephews; other re-
latives and friends. He is
preceded in death by; his
grandparents, Alva and
Leila Halls; parents, Willi-
am and Martha Halls;
mother and father-in-law,
Glen and Lila Diebold and
sister, Diane Larson.
Graveside services
were held at 10:00 a.m.
Saturday, August 7 at Per-
silla Watts Cemetery in
Rugby with Rev. Jon
Bonine, officiating.
