Stanley Bertsch
May 31, 1927-July 10, 2021
Stanley Bertsch, also
known to many as
“Junior,” age 94, passed
away on July 10, 2021, in
Missoula, Montana.
He was born May 31,
1927, in Towner, North
Dakota to Stanley Bertsch
Sr. and Pearl Brandon
Bertsch. His fondest
memories were of the
time he spent on his
grandparents’ farm.
Stan served in the US
Navy from March 22,
1945, a few months before
his 18th birthday, to April
2, 1948. He was stationed
in the Philippine Islands
and on the USS General
J.C. Breckinridge. He was
proud of his service and
excited to go on the 2013
Honor Flight to Washing-
ton D.C.
Stan was also proud of
his long career as a truck-
driver. He started driving
tractors on the farm,
moved on to heavy equip-
ment and trucks. He
bought his own truck
several years before he re-
tired.
Stan loved fishing and
the beautiful lakes around
Missoula. He enjoyed his
boats and camper, and his
many friends who shared
these activities with him.
Stan was preceded in
death by: his parents; and
brother Clayton Bertsch.
He is survived by:
daughters Victoria
(Jacques) Chappell, Can-
dyce (Randy) Richardson,
and Kaleigh Grafft; Grand-
daughters Theresa Chap-
pell, Allison Chappell,
Andrea (Quanah)
Richardson-Blaine, Sara
(Alan) Duncan; Great-
grandchildren Ava Blaine,
Alyssa and Liam Duncan;
Nephew Blaine (Raksha)
Bertsch; and Great niece
Sacha Bertsch.
Interment Service will
be held at the Western
MT State Veterans
Cemetery, 1911 Tower
Street, Missoula on Sept.
10 at 1 p.m.
