Daniel was born Febru-
ary 17, 1938 to Paul and
Elizabeth (Hager) Vetter in
Selz, ND. He began his
education in Esmond, ND
before transferring his
senior year to the Benson
County Agricultural and
Training School in Mad-
dock, graduating with the
Class of 1956. Daniel en-
listed in the North Dakota
Army National Guard in
1963. He continued to
farm, raise cattle, and
train horses while serving
his country. Daniel was
united in marriage to
Jeanette Ann Willy on
June 19, 1963. To this un-
ion, the couple welcomed
six children: Aime,
Robert, Micheal, Lisa, Da-
vid, and Rachel.
Daniel was a devoted
and loving father and
grandfather. He was ac-
tively involved in build-
ing his children’s lives,
loved visiting their
homes, and relished fami-
ly gatherings. His greatest
blessing was being
“Grampa” to 27 grandchil-
dren and 5
great-grandchildren, and
he never stopped speak-
ing proudly of them. He
loved attending any event
that involved watching
his grandchildren. Daniel
also delighted in training
horses with his children
and grandchildren. He
spent many hours hunting
and shooting with his
sons and grandchildren.
Daniel is survived by
his children, Aime (Lee)
Ellingson of Courtenay,
ND, Robert (LeAnn)
Vetter of Callaway, MN,
Micheal (Melissa) Vetter
of Buchanan, ND, Lisa
(Bryan) Wetch of
Bismarck, ND, David
(Tammy) Vetter of Bert-
hold, ND, and Rachel
(Justin) Maddock of Mad-
dock, ND; 27 grandchil-
dren; 5
great-grandchildren; sis-
ter, Martha Beenken of
Burnsville, MN; and
brother, Richard (Eileen)
Vetter of Esmond, ND.
He was preceded in
death by his parents, Paul
and Elizabeth Vetter; two
infant sisters; the mother
of all his children,
Jeanette Ann (Willy)
Vetter; and a grand-
daughter, Megan Elling-
son.
Daniel was a man of
passion for whatever he
did and that especially in-
cluded his love for Jesus
and his desire that others
would one day join him in
heaven. Daniel died sud-
denly while checking cat-
tle, just as he wanted with
his boots on.
